Health Care for America Now - Update

Iowa Citizen Action Network thanks Congressmen Boswell, Braley, and Loebsack

Our Executive Director, Betty Ahrens released the following statement in appreciation of Congressmen Boswell, Braley, and Loebsack's votes to pass the House of Representatives' Affordable Health Care for America Act (H.R. 3962):

Congressmen Boswell, Braley, and Loebsack have taken a great step for the people of Iowa in voting "yes" to pass the House's Affordable Health Care for America Act. Their votes prove they are on the side of the American people and not the big insurance companies and special interests that have been working overtime to try and kill meaningful health care reform. Because of Congressmen Boswell, Braley, and Loebsack's commitment to do what's right for their constituents, we can look forward to having more affordable health coverage with good, comprehensive benefits, and true choice and competition in the health insurance marketplace.

On the other hand, we are extremely disappointed Representatives King and Latham voted against a bill that would lower costs for families and businesses and end insurance company abuses. This historic legislation reflects a broad consensus of the various parties interested in fixing America's broken health care system. Representatives King and Latham will have another chance to support reform when they votes on the conference report, and as organizations comprised of many of their constituents, we hope they will reconsider their position and vote with us.
