ICAN Staff
Betty Ahrens, Executive Director, is responsible for the overall direction of the organization including financial management, staff supervision, affiliate relations and strategic planning. Betty can be reached at BettyAhrens@IowaCAN.org and works from our Iowa City office at 319.354.8116 ext 105.
Sue Dinsdale, Organizer, is working on the Main Street Alliance Small Business Health Care and Health Care for America Now. You can reach her at SDinsdale@IowaCAN.org and she works in our Des Moines office at 515.277.5077 ext 14.
Amy Logsdon, Political Director, is working on the Health Care for America Now and Federal Issues Projects and ICAN's election work. She can be reached at ALogsdon@IowaCAN.org and works in our Iowa City office at 319.354.8116 ext 106.
Jim McClanahan, Development Director, is in charge of recruitment, staff development and oversight of our team of part-time phone canvassers. He is also in charge of Membership Administration. He can be reached at JMcClanahan@IowaCAN.org and works from our Iowa City office.
Gayle Warner, Financial Manager, handles ICAN’s accounting needs as well as general office administration and clerical duties. She can be reached at GWarner@IowaCAN.org and works from our Iowa City office at 319.354.8116 ext 101.
The Phone Canvass conducts outreach, education, and fundraising to ICAN’s individual members. The majority of ICAN’s budget is raised from our members via the phone canvass. The phone and field canvasses also assist the organizing staff by building ICAN’s e-mail network and identifying potential volunteers.

Iowa Citizen Action Network (ICAN) is a grassroots public interest organization and progressive political coalition committed to creating social change in Iowa and across the nation. ICAN has united Iowa's progressives for over 30 years and is leading efforts to change the public climate for progressive change. ICAN has nearly 40 organizational affiliates from a wide range of constituencies, including religious, community, labor, senior, family farm and environmental organizations, and over 6,000 individual members.
